fbpx Signs Your Mental Health May Be at Risk

During this time of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, it is especially important to do your best to stay healthy—both physically and mentally. While you may be feeling extra stressed, anxious, or alone, take some time to step back and do a self-check of your mental health on a weekly or even daily basis.

Check yourself against the below signs. If you’re experiencing any of these situations, your mental health may be at risk.

  • You are not able to find enjoyable activities that allow you to take a break, relax, or lower your stress.

  • You are sleeping more than normal.

  • You are highly agitated/irritable and are taking it out on others around you.

  • You are engaging in unhealthy activities more than usual (i.e. increased drinking, smoking, eating, gambling, etc.)

  • You do not seem to care for others or are not able to pay attention to other’s needs.

  • Friends or family members have expressed concern or worry about you, or are making comments about your habits.

  • Your behavior, mood, or activities are getting in the way of your normal daily functioning (affecting positive work performance, positive family relations, positive friend interactions, missing deadlines, etc.).

  • You have thoughts of dying or wishing for death.

If you notice any of these symptoms, it may be time to for you to reach out and seek professional help from a therapist. During this emergency time, most providers, are offering telehealth options through video or phone, allowing you to stay in the safety and comfort of your home while still receiving necessary help. These services are confidential, as always, and should be covered by most health insurance.

Take care of your mental health. Life can be stressful and you don't have to navigate this alone.
