Chemical Health —
Teaching Skills for Abstinence & Healthy Life Choices

The Chemical Health program at Onarga Academy focuses on providing adolescent males who are recovering from chemical abuse/dependency with the skills necessary to abstain from drugs and alcohol and make healthy life choices, going forward.

Chemical health services enhance the residential program for adolescent males, ages 12 to 21. The goal of this program is to provide appropriate, quality care based upon a comprehensive assessment of the client's abuse/dependency, as set forth by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

Staff members are individually certified as Addiction Counselors through the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association. The program is licensed for Level I and Level II care through the Illinois Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse and is Medicaid certified for Level I care.
