Boys who come to Onarga Academy for harmful sexual behaviors have issues surrounding sexual behavior initiated by a child or adolescent toward another child, adolescent, or adult, including personal victimization, sexual behaviors, sexually-reactive behaviors, sexual perpetration, family relationships, abusive behavior, empathy, aggression, cognitive distortions, reactive attachment disorder, and trauma-based mental health issues.
Onarga Academy programming also addresses harmful sexual behaviors with lower intellectual functioning (IQs from 55-70) who have significant mental health issues, harmful sexual behaviors, sexually reactive behaviors, pervasive developmental delays, and/or other special needs. These youth may also struggle with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Effect, Attention Deficit Disorder, Disruptive Behaviors, Impulse Control Disorders, and/or other Brain-Based Disorders. Youth in these programs have been sexually, physically, or emotionally abused. Youth are diagnosed at admission according to DSM-IV-TR criteria, from which an individualized treatment plan is created to address his level of functioning, special needs, age, and history.
Youth Served: Young Adolescent Males, ages 11-14, with unhealthy sexual behaviors and other behavioral and emotional issues.
Youth Served:Middle Adolescent Males, ages 14-17 at admission, with unhealthy sexual behaviors and other behavioral and emotional issues.
Youth Served:Older Adolescent Males, ages 16-20, with unhealthy sexual behaviors and other behavioral and emotional issues.
