Girls in Indian Oaks Academy’s Unhealthy Sexual Behaviors Programs have been sexually, physically, or emotionally abused.
Unheathy sexual behaviors programing for girls addresses sexuality, family and peers, chemical abuse, and vocational planning in a holistic, individualized manner. Emphasis is placed on building trust and respect and discovering the value of positive relationships. The highly individualized programming also addresses educational, recreational, and vocational goals.
Gender-responsive treatment works to help girls develop a sense of value in today's society, empower them to define their boundaries, and encourage them to grow into emotionally healthy and independent women. Many of the young women in this program have been victims of sexual abuse and/or physical abuse and have primary safety issues, lack of self-esteem, and have demonstrated sexually problematic behaviors. We work through the client's victimization to help them understand healthy sexual boundaries and healthy sexual behaviors.
Trauma-focused treatment takes place within a safe and respectful environment in which these young women learn to accept responsibility for their behavior, gain empathy for others, and practice making healthier choices. Family is integral to the treatment process, and is involved at all stages.
The Soundwaves program provides residential treatment for adolescent females, ages 12-21, who have demonstrated unhealthy and harmful problematic sexual behaviors. Sexuality therapy addresses inappropriate sexual behaviors and the resolution of personal victimization issues.
